My hometown

Hello everyone! It's been a while! This is YU-KI, the Chairperson of the 58th School Festival Executive Committee.

In today's blog, I'd like to introduce my hometown, Hokkaido!

When you think of Hokkaido, you probably imagine its vast nature, delicious food, and beautiful scenery throughout the four seasons. As someone who was born and raised there, I truly believe Hokkaido is one of the most attractive places in Japan.

First, let me show you this photo!

This is Cape Kamui, located on the Shakotan Peninsula. The crystal-clear blue sea, known as "Shakotan Blue," is even more breathtaking in person than in photos. On a sunny day, you can see the horizon stretching endlessly, making it one of Hokkaido's most famous scenic spots.

During the summer, you can find magnificent sunflower fields all across Hokkaido. The contrast between the bright yellow flowers and the blue sky is absolutely stunning. It's the perfect place to stop during a road trip and experience Hokkaido's wide-open landscapes.

Next is a view of Mt. Tarumae from Lake Shikotsu, one of Japan's clearest lakes. When the wind is calm, the mountain reflects beautifully on the water, creating a peaceful and almost magical atmosphere.

In winter, Hokkaido transforms into a snowy wonderland. Although the weather is very cold, the crisp, clean air and spectacular snowy scenery make the season truly unforgettable.

Finally, this is Mt. Rishiri (Rishiri Fuji) as seen from Rishiri Island. Rising majestically from the sea, this beautiful mountain has been selected as one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains. Standing before it, you can truly appreciate the grandeur of nature.

No matter how many times you visit Hokkaido, you'll always discover something new. Every season offers different scenery, local foods, and unique experiences, making it a destination you'll want to visit again and again.

If you ever have the chance, I highly recommend visiting Hokkaido. I'm sure you'll find your own favorite views and create unforgettable memories.
