An Unexpected Experience

Hello everyone! My name is Yoroi Komatsu, a second-year student in the Department of Welfare Psychology, Faculty of Human and Social Sciences, and a member of the School Festival Executive Committee. This time, I would like to share one of my own experiences.

What I would like to talk about is my visit to an aquarium. I had some free time and wanted to do something exciting when I found out that there was an aquarium nearby. At first, I thought, “There’s an aquarium near me? I have some free time, so why not check it out!” and headed there with excitement. However, as I got closer to my destination, I started wondering, “Is there really an aquarium here?” When I finally arrived, I found out that it was inside a building. It was different from what I had imagined, so I felt a little unsure, but I decided to go inside anyway.

Once I entered, I was surprised by what I found. It was a place where visitors could interact with various animals and feed them. Rather than simply looking at the animals, visitors could actually interact with them and learn more about them through hands-on experiences.

To feed or interact with the animals, visitors had to use special coins. Because of this, you needed to prepare or charge the coins beforehand. Since I was already there, I decided to give it a try myself.

I also had the chance to touch some of the animals. One of them was a ball python. Ball pythons are known for being calm, so even though it was my first time touching a snake, I was able to do so without any trouble. (Of course, it was under the supervision of the staff, so it wasn’t exactly because of my own skills, haha.) The snake felt surprisingly soft and squishy despite its thick body.

I was also able to interact with call ducks. However, perhaps because I was not used to handling them, they kept moving around, and I struggled so much that I completely forgot about taking pictures. Even so, I think I had a really good time.

Thank you very much for reading until the end. Another member will write a new blog post next time, so I hope you look forward to it!
