Pilgrimage to Sacred Locations

In mid-September, I visited some of the real-life locations featured in the popular drama and movie Chihayafuru. Among them was Tokyo’s Tama City, which serves as one of the main settings for Chihayafuru: Meguru, the new series that started this spring.

The first place I visited was Ono Shrine, where the main characters often stop by in the story.

Next, I went to the Tama River riverbed, where the students from umezono High School (the main characters' school) actually trained in the show. While it may seem like just an ordinary riverbank, for fans of Chihayafuru, it's an incredibly exciting and emotional place to visit.

I've been watching Chihayafuru for seven years, and it's a movie and drama series that I truly love, so I’m really glad I got to visit the locations.

During the winter break, I’m planning to visit Omi Jingu Shrine, which appears many times in the movies as the venue for the national karuta tournament. I'm really looking forward to it!
