楽しかった東京大学の学園祭

I went to the May Festival, the school festival of the University of Tokyo!
I'm Yusei Fowler, Head of Public Relations for our university's school festival committee.
The May Festival was held on May 24th (Saturday) and 25th (Sunday), 2025, at the Hongo and Yayoi Campuses—and I had the chance to visit!
Even before entering, I was struck by the huge crowd. It really made me feel the overwhelming appeal and prestige of the University of Tokyo.

The pamphlet I received at the entrance was incredibly well-made—I read through every page! (lol)
As someone who has also worked on school festival pamphlets, I was impressed by everything from the paper quality to the content and font. I couldn’t help but think, “As expected from Japan’s top university…”
At the Medical School building, there were many exhibits related to healthcare and the human body.
One sketch of the internal structure of the human body was especially detailed—it gave me a glimpse into how much effort medical professionals put into their work.

There were also attractions for children, like a small train ride, dance performances, and of course, the classic food booths that are a festival staple!
For lunch, I had yakisoba with tomato sauce, and for dessert, I tried “blini,” a type of Russian crepe.
One of the great things about school festivals is discovering new kinds of food like that!
What left the biggest impression on me was the group that demonstrated tatara iron-making!
It’s not often that you get to see real iron-making up close with such intense heat—and the fact that it was done by students was truly amazing!
As a member of a school festival committee myself, I learned a lot—and above all, I had so much fun!
I definitely want to go again next year!
